to post my two favorites from the senior session the other day!
I LOVE these!! She had saved ALL of her x-country and track shoes since freshman year. How cool is that!?!? :)
I belong to several professional photographic communities, and I am in constant awe of the amazing talent that is out there. I am honored to get to know these people through online discussions and critiques, sharing of creative ideas and inspiration, and discussing business and personal ventures. I could probably post a list a mile long of people that literally blow we away with their photographic abilities, and maybe I will start featuring a weekly inspiration post. But today, I was struck speechless and stunned when reading Matt Nicolosi’s blog. He is a member of an online community of photographers I frequent. While I don’t know him personally, I am very familiar with his incredible talent. Check out what he did as a proposal. SO INCREDIBLY SWEET!!! Check out his amazing work. This is one of the BEST proposals I have ever heard of. Congrats Matt and Kylie!! Best wishes to you in the future. News is, he is on the lookout for a Southern Indiana photographer!!! I always get excited to see who other photographer’s will pick as their wedding photographer, and if I had to guess, they would opt for Indy’s Jessica Strickland (who was rumored to have photographer Rex Grossman’s wedding recently???) or Bobbi & Mike, also from Indy. Both of these photographers were HUGE inspirations to me when I started out, and I still love to follow their work. So, there’s three insanely cool sites to go check out. Just promise after you see their work, you’ll keep checking back here, too! lol
Speaking of Indy, I’m off to Indy for the weekend to attend the creative workshop that I won back in the winter. Thanks to Skye Hardwick (who is also getting married in a few weeks! Congrats Skye!!) for providing this fantastic opportunity to me!! I can’t wait to see her again (I met her in March at her Business Bootcamp). She was a huge inspiration to me when I started out (still is!). So, there’s a fourth site to go check out. The talent that is out there is astonishing, and I can’t wait to be surrounded by other photographers this weekend! I finally can geek talk about photography to my heart’s content to people who actually care! ;) I’m sure that’s a huge relief to all of the loves in my life, as they are for sure tired of hearing my endless photography chatter!!
Here is the photo that won me the contest.
Shadow of a Dream
“The very substance of the ambitious is merely the shadow of a dream.” ~ William Shakespeare
I was really looking forward to photographing these soon-to-be senior sisters. I met them last year at a friend’s birthday party, and I was correct in remembering how sweet they were! They’re also extremely photogenic! This session was a breeze! Thanks so much for a great session. You two were incredibly flawless, especially considering how stinkin’ hot and humid it was yesterday!
Hey girls, it worked! We were trying to recreate a photograph from when they were little. They even had the same bags from way back when! How cute!!
This is how it looked at the Dunes last night. It was as if the sky had split apart, just to shine golden rays down onto Chicago. It was totally magical. I’m so glad I was there to see this. I was also glad we got there just in time to miss the rain! :)
This kid is amazing. He’s not exactly a kid anymore, as he just turned 18 (check out the sweet tat on his calf). He will be a senior at Kouts High School this fall, and he job shadowed me during last school year. Not only is he an awe-inspiring dancer, he is on his way to becoming quite the accomplished photographer. The photo he took of his friend, Kara, won the free senior session contest held earlier this year. If you are a senior that has a true passion for something, and you are looking for unique, beautiful senior photos - hit me up! I was in pure heaven photographing something this unique and bold. I’m so glad Chris asked me to come to his studio for the session.
Here are just a few of my favorites….

Gracie’s momma and I got to know each other over two years ago, while we were both planning our weddings. After years of chatting online, we finally met yesterday!! I was so excited to see her home and her and her new, perfect family. Congrats Danae and Micah! She is gorgeous and beautiful, just like her parents!!
This shot was inspired by the amazing PinkleToes.
you get photos like this…
lol every time I look at this….they can’t help it either…I know!! Ok, Krista, if you call/email me requesting this come down, it’s a done deal. Otherwise, it is staying up, because I don’t think I’ve ever witnessed anything quite so strange and cute at the same time. Krista, and her husband, Mike, came up all the way from Columbus, Ohio for their session!! How cool is that?!?!
I had the absolute BEST time hanging out “shooting” you two. Thanks for being such troopers. I can’t wait for you to see the finished images. There will be more sneak peaks to come in a few days! It was so great seeing you!!
Now, onto the serious **hAWT-Ness!!!**
Krista is so incredibly gorgeous and photogenic. I think she has such an exotic look about her. She was a dream to photograph.
This was also my first psuedo Trash The Dress session. We didn’t really trash it at all, but it was so cool to see her put on her dress after two years. Mike was SO excited!!
is such a natural model. She truly comes alive in front of the camera. It’s such a joy to take her photograph. I wish everyone could see her the way I do. Courtney - do you know how proud I am of you? You are growing into such a beautiful, caring, sweet, honest, compassionate young woman. I’m so, so, so proud of you in so many ways.
I’m out all day today, so I’m taking advantage of pre-setting my blog posts. Hopefully this will show up around 5 o’clock p.m. today, while I’m writing it at 12:30 a.m.!
I think a little miss someone has maybe caught one too many episodes of ANTM. Look at these intense eyes and poses! Wowzers. Tyra would be proud. Mom and Dad are going to have their hands FULL! Oh, wait…she’s #4 for them…hands have been full for sometime now!
